Giving Our Groups Names

Jack and Jill provides quality care and education for children aged 9-months to 10-years. However we tend to gravitate towards the pre-school group when it comes to letting you know what's going on. We wanted to change this and make sure we were focusing on all our age groups when we communicate with you so we decided to change the format of our newsletter.
When putting the newsletter together it became apparent that we needed to identify the group we were talking about and this became very long-winded!
We opted to give each group a name that easily identified them - after some searching we settled on animals that have 'Jack' in their name. Having discarded a few - not sure anyone wants to be in Jackass group! We settled on the following:

Our youngest children - who will usually be based at the Northolmes site are the JACKSNIPE GROUP - Jacksnipes are symbolic of being vocal about their feelings, the importance of being expressive and remind us to search for answers.

Our pre-schoolers - who are based at the Littlehaven site are the JACKRABBIT TROOP - Jackrabbits signify abundance, nurturing, spontaneity and intuition along with speed, agility, endurance, determination and adaptability.

Our wrap-around children who attend Littlehaven, Northolmes and Leechpool schools are the JACKAL CLUB - Jackals are synonymous with being productive, efficient and cunning - a trickster, but all in the name of fun along with honing the art of investigation.

Our Little Chicks group closes on 13th December temporarily while we have the building work completed at Northolmes, but we didn't want them to feel left out so when they open again they will be the JACANA's - the Jacana is a symbol of new beginnings and new horizons. Teaching us to be adaptable and resourceful in times of change. Good luck, great strength and determination are attributed to them.
