Sock Puppets:
You just need a couple of socks!
… if you have some stickers you could use them to make eyes or you could cut and stick on some paper eyes - but if not don't worry :)
Pop them on your hands and have fun making your sock puppets talk.
Use a silly voice, silly words, get it to tell a story or give instructions.
...What is his name?

I See a....
Say an object that you can see and use different words to describe it. "I see a jumper - blue, soft, bobbly, spotty" Do this with a few different objects and then invite your child to join in.
How many different words can you come up with between you to describe the object.

Silly Sounds
Model making silly sounds with your voice. Try a pop, click, raspberry, hum - be creative. Exaggerate the way you move your mouth to make the sound and invite your child to join in.

Rhyming Soup

Sit on the floor and place rhyming objects on the floor e.g.rat, hat, cat. Use a bowl and spoon to act out the song. Invite children in turn to choose an object to put in the soup and place it in the bowl. After each turn stir the soup and sing the following song to recite the growing list of things to end up in the soup.

(Tune: Pop Goes the Weasel)

I’m making lots of silly soup

I’m making soup that’s silly

I’m going to cook it in the fridge

To make it nice and chilly

In goes…. A rat …. A cat…. A hat
